I’m Joyce, a lifelong reader, equestrian, and romantic. I have a passion for helping authors create emotionally driven stories with rich character arcs, realistic horses, and that satisfying spark readers come back for.
As I worked towards my BA in Creative Writing and English from Southern New Hampshire University, I discovered my love of writing and, in particular, my talent for editing. I continue to spend time every day reading books, attending virtual events and classes, and following established authors and editors to continue my education in writing, editing, and publishing.
I’ve also spent more than two decades in the saddle and around the barn, I’ve had the chance to try out hunter/jumper, barrel racing, pole bending, trail riding, bodywork, groundwork, and positive reinforcement. I’ve even moved horses halfway across the country – twice! From barn rat to backyard caretaker, I’ve gaining firsthand knowledge of what horses need every day, in the barn and beyond.

In 2024, I published my first book, Ember’s Cross: An Equestrian Novella.
“Today is supposed to be my last day with my best friend.”
As a witch, October 31st is normally Dawn’s favorite night of the year. This year she’s spending the whole day with her horse, Ember, on the farm where they both grew up. Dawn enjoys the day with her horse that resembles her childhood until Ember reminds her that they aren’t as young as they used to be.
Ember is ready to cross over into the spirit world tonight, and she can only cross over with Dawn’s help. Dawn wants to keep the last living tie she has to her family and her magic.
Crossing Ember over protects her soul forever and means Dawn will have to find meaning in her life beyond caring for Ember.
Not crossing Ember over means Dawn will lose her forever.
Grab your helmet and spell book and join Dawn as she learns that facing life and death may actually mean the same things.
